Is use of this product when pulling multiple trailers legal in all states?
In a majority of states it appears that pulling multiple trailers is legal. However, you should check your state's laws on pulling multiple trailers to ensure it is allowed, and if it is allowed, to determine if there are any related restrictions.
Is there a weight limit?
There is a maximum tongue weight of 200 pounds and a maximum pulling weight of 2000 pounds on the XpandaHitch product right now. We are testing the product and may be increasing these maximums once that testing is complete. We caution our customers not to exceed their vehicles recommended pulling weight, which can be found in your vehicles owner manual, when using their XpandaHitch™ towing device. The total vehicle pulling weight should be calculated by the customer by adding both trailers and their loads together.
Can you pull double PWC trailers?
It is absolutely possible to pull one trailer with two PWC units on it. This is accomplished by mounting the XpandaHitch™ towing device more toward the center of the trailer and lining up the driver’s side wheels of both trailers so the driver can see down the driver’s side of both trailers in the side mirror. Also, we are working on an offset hitch pull bar for trailers that are 8 feet wide. This addition to our product line is scheduled to be rolled out in April of 2009.
How do you setup the lighting?
It is relatively simple to tap into the back of the first trailer and then put a generic wiring kit from the first trailer to the second trailer, but we are working on a kit of our own right now that will be sold separately on our website for those who would like to purchase it from XpandaHitch LLC. This light kit is scheduled to be available for purchase sometime in April 2009.
Does the XpandaHitch™ product fit on all trailers?
Yes! We have taken great care to ensure that the XpandaHitch™ towing device will fit on all trailers. If for some reason after receiving your hitch it does not fit your trailer Todd & Steve will either customize a hitch to fit your situation or you can return it for a full refund. Can you pull a camper trailer?
Yes! The XpandaHitch™ product was developed with personal water craft in mind, but any trailer can be pulled with any sort of toy on board. The only concern here is to stay within your vehicle's pulling capacity, the XpandaHitch™ product capacities, and local state laws for pulling multiple trailers.
Does it work with an out board motor?
Yes! The XpandaHitch™ product will get your hitch out past the prop of an inboard or an outboard in every situation we have tested up to this point. Again, if for some reason you experience a problem, Todd & Steve will find a way to make it right or you can return the XpandaHitch for a full refund. 100% customer satisfaction is our commitment to you.
How does the hitch do when turning?
Outstanding! This product does a great job for all that have purchased and used it. We are working on a video of the product in use in turns, tracking from the front and rear. This should be up on our website in the coming weeks.
How long does it take to install the XpandaHitch™ towing device?
We are sure this time will vary with the installer, but we have seen the installation take between 15 minutes for someone like Todd that has installed a few of these in the last several months to about 30 to 45 minutes for someone that has never seen the product before. If you have the product professionally installed at one of our dealers they will charge you one hour service fee.
Can I get the XpandaHitch™ product installed professionally and what would it cost?
We recommend professional installation of our product to insure our customers have no issues with the use of the XpandaHitch™ towing device. The XpandaHitch™ product is easy to install and takes a licensed mechanic only about 30 minutes to install with basic tools. The cost is usually only an hour wage charge that ranges somewhere around 100 dollars.
What is the average lead time to get my XpandaHitch™ device once I place my order?
Currently, average lead time is about 3 to 4 weeks. This can be considerably shorter, but we want to be sure you are not disappointed, so plan on this lead time.
